And
it swam through the heaven-like sea
Through water and wave and it waved at me
As on the shore of the lapping sea
The foam white wave came for me.
The salt and sand and hourglass time
Filled to the lees the heaven-like brine
And as I talked with me and mine
It came to beach in sandless time.
The hollow shells of shellfish gone
Littered the lands beneath the baking sun
The dried up water like tears gone wrong
Remembered the words in echoing song.
A necklace it made of all this decay
And all I spoke was all it would say
Then the tide turned night to day
As the wave-like water drained away.
Retreating from my sandy shore
Waving goodbye, waving no more
It slowly discovered the time-like flaw
Then all became still as it was before.
